I'm E.F. Sam — an author, illustrator, mother of three and lifelong explorer of the wonderfully mysterious, occasionally magnificent and frequently baffling business of being human.

I was born and raised in Malaysia and am now Belgian. Since I was about ten, I've had experiences that profoundly shaped the way I think, feel and see the world. Looking back, I'm grateful for them. They started me asking questions very early — and I haven't really stopped since.

Unfortunately, the questions haven't become smaller.

What is consciousness? Why are we here? What are we capable of? How do we heal? What is reality? Why do certain patterns repeat? What happens when we die? And why can a perfectly intelligent adult spend forty-seven minutes analysing the placement of a full stop in a text message?

I'm fascinated by all of it — psychology, spirituality, consciousness, human potential, nervous system regulation, ancient wisdom, symbolism, meditation, energy, sound, beliefs, emotions, perception, and the extraordinary number of things happening inside us while we're supposedly just making a cup of tea. This journey has included a few unusual stops: UFO mysteries, the lost world of Atlantis, and the timeless wonders of Ancient Egypt. My curiosity does occasionally insist on taking the scenic route.

My professional background is in Mass Communication and Broadcasting, but my education has wandered considerably since then. Today, I continue to deepen my knowledge through study, practitioner training, personal practice and lived experience.

I'm currently undertaking certification and practitioner-level training in Reiki, Egyptian Seichim Energy Healing, Chakra Healing, and Sound Healing. My personal practices include meditation, yoga, mindfulness, manifestation and mouna — the intentional practice of silence.

And, with three children, the last of whom occasionally requires favourable planetary alignment, some of the most profound things I’ve learned haven’t come from courses, certificates, books or teachers.

They came from life itself.

Life, as it turns out, runs a remarkably thorough educational programme. There is no prospectus, enrolment appears to be automatic, and occasionally the examination arrives before you've read the chapter.

I created Well Apparently™ from much of what I've discovered along the way — a place where consciousness and personal growth meet humour, through books, journals and conversations about our thoughts, words, feelings, beliefs and the patterns we may never have thought to question.

Alongside writing as E.F. Sam for the Well, Apparently™ collection, I create stories across different worlds — from comic literary fiction for adults to illustrated children’s stories, including neurodivergent stories shaped by my own experiences.

Different stories, different characters, different adventures… although the Creativity Department appears to be run by the same enthusiastic team. It remains fully operational, occasionally chaotic, and has yet to submit a request for fewer projects. Apparently, my imagination declined to specialise and opened several departments instead.

I digress. Where was I.Oh yes.I certainly don't have all the answers.

The further I go, the more I realise how much there is to learn. Every answer seems to arrive carrying three new questions and occasionally a reading list.

I'm simply here to share what I've learned and use it to help you find your own way — not by telling you which way to go, but by helping you see yourself, your choices and what you consciously want a little more clearly.

There's a beautiful saying often shared in spiritual circles that we're all walking each other home.

I love that.

We're all learning as we go — sharing what we've discovered, comparing notes, asking better questions and occasionally realising we've been confidently heading in entirely the wrong direction since Tuesday of 1989.

I'll share what I've learned, ask some good questions, point out a few things you may not have noticed and hopefully help you hear your own answers a little more clearly.

And if I can make you smile while we're doing it, I'm happy.

Personal growth can be profound without requiring us to look terribly profound while doing it.

Oh, and I remain firmly convinced that coconut improves almost everything. Some conclusions require no further research.
